Government Day

• Objective: to provide an understanding of the formal and informal processes of non-judicial aspects of state government, ways in which it relates top Shelby County, and ways in which leaders can be effective in the processes.

Government Day proves to be one of the most exciting days of the Youth Leadership Shelby County program. Traveling to Montgomery, students will have the opportunity to tour the buildings where Alabamian politicians and leaders draft, debate, and determine policy, while also getting to meet with leaders who shape Alabama’s government. This special class day equips students with the experience and knowledge to inform and enfranchise their peers to be active civil servants.
