Education Day

• Objective: To help prepare students for the transition from high school to college and to expose students to college and career opportunities.

Education Day brings the students back closer to home after their time in Montgomery. While Government Day provides the opportunity for students to educate themselves on the larger systems of their Shelby County community, Education Day serves a purpose that is smaller in scale but equally monumental in impact. Students learn about the local Shelby County programming that immediately affects them and their classmates as they gear up to make their post-graduation plans. Tours of some of the post-graduate options for rising high school seniors and meetings with local administrators showcase to the Youth Leadership Shelby County class all of the options at the disposal of themselves and their peers. Education Day is the perfect way to end the class, helping students identify the different pathways they can take and begin to decide which pathway best suits their personal goals.
